Changelog v1.2.3 - 22-02-2017

Wed 22 Feb 2017

v1.2.3 "Use your words" - The one where we favour words over numbers and emojis over words.

  • Updated scoring system

We've ditched the numbers from the review form in favour of words. The problem was that some people thought 5 meant "ok" while others thought 5 meant "pretty disappointing". The idea with this update is to bring some meaning to the scores so that everyone is on the same page. The actual wording is still up for debate, so if you've got any suggestions, get in touch!

  • Review form modals

Another update to the review form is to add some modals (what you might call popups) that appear for particularly high or low scores. We want to allow people to review honestly but we feel that 10s across the board is pretty rare and also that if you're giving a low score, you should consider speaking to the venue owner/manager. They might turn your experience around, or at least improve things for the next visitor.

If you still think your score is right, we won't stop you submitting it - it's just a warning. However, reviews with really low scores won't show up on the main review feed. They will still show on a venue pages and user profiles, we just want to keep the front page positive.

  • Emoji Support added to reviews

Now you can tell us that your ? was ?

  • iOS slider issue

Sometimes if you took a slider down to 0 and then tried to scroll is back up, you'd end up going back a page. That wasn't a feature. We've tried to stop this by giving you some finger room around the slider. There are better ways to fix but we haven't done them...yet.

  • The mobile review error issue

Oh this one. Sometimes when you submit a review from a phone you'll get an error message saying that it didn't work. You'll also get a page that says it did work. And it did work. We know about this and we're working on it.

Changelog v1.2.2 - 18-01-2017

Wed 18 Jan 2017

v1.2.2 "Housework" - The one where we tidy up the mess we've made in preparation for the big exciting updates.

  • We've improved the error checking on the review form. This should make things easier and quicker.
  • There's now a link on each venue page so that you can easily view it on Google Maps.
  • When you sign up you will now get an email to confirm that it is actually your address.
  • The reviews had different amounts of padding depending on which page you were on. That was wrong. Now it's right.
Changelog v1.2.1 - 14-12-2016

Wed 14 Dec 2016

Last update before Christmas Have a good one!

  • Following our update to the home page last time, we've added a "log in" link under the "sign up" button. We've also made some changes that should keep you logged in if you choose to use the "remember me" option.
  • When submitting a review some iOS devices were giving up completely and asking you to reload the page - even though the review has actually been received. This led to reviews being posted multiple times and wasn't fun for anyone. There is still room for improvement here but we should have fixed the immediate problem. If you see a "Cheers!" message, then it worked.
  • There is now less data being sent back when you search for venues. This is a good thing. You will still get the same results, it just means that everything happens quicker and you use less of your data allowance. It's not like we were doing anything with that extra data anyway.
  • Sometimes when the first review for a new venue was submitted it was getting stuck in the system even after we approved the venue. Should be good now. Also if you've reviewed a new venue you should get an email once it has been approved.
  • The score colours were wrong apparently. I think only Chris would notice that though. Maybe I should have just not mentioned it.
  • Reviews on venue pages were in the wrong order. They're now showing in date order with the latest review first.
  • Invalid reviews were sneaking their way onto venue pages. No more.
  • Some Google Places don't have Place IDs. We were totally not expecting that to be a thing and, as such, weren't prepared to handle it. To be honest we're not sure if Google were expecting it either. Anyway, we handle it now but there's not a lot we can do about it - it will just prompt you to pick a different venue.
  • There were some problems with venue names. If they were too long they were making the review page go all weird (on iOS). Also the descenders (the bottom bits on letters like y and g) were getting chopped off in some places. This should all be fixed now.

If you're having problems, you can let us know at Cheers!

Changelog - 18-11-2016

Fri 18 Nov 2016

Popup restaurants and a new homepage.

  • Added Popups. As in popup restaurants, not popup adverts.
  • Added new three-column home page layout so you can get straight down to business.
  • Tweaked the review list layout on some pages so that it uses the full available width on smaller (laptop sized) screens.
  • Improved the meta data so you can share reviews, venues, whatever and have them look nice with preview images and everything.
  • Massively reduced the amount of database queries that were going on. I mean, wow. Seriously.
  • Generally improved site performance and loading speeds a bit.
  • Made a bunch of improvements behind the scenes which you won't directly see the effect of but believe me they're great, ok? We have the best bug fixes. Just fantastic.

If you're having problems, you can let us know at Cheers!

Changelog - 20/10/2016

Thu 20 Oct 2016

A few tweaks and improvements based on user feedback.

  • Updated the favicons and homescreen icons for extra mmm.
  • Stopped the review form from rejecting your review when you did nothing wrong.
  • Added social media share links after you've submitted a review because, wow, why didn't we think of that one before?
  • Stopped the image uploader pushing the "save image" button off the bottom of the screen, even when you're using Safari on iOS.
  • Made venue phone numbers clickable on venue pages so you can just straight up order food immediately.
  • Stopped really long venue names from making the page bigger than it should be on mobile and therefore allowing you to scroll sideways into the void.
  • Improved the look of success and error pages a bit.
  • Booted up Yumbot and told him to let us know if anything goes wrong.

If you're still having problems, you can let us know at Cheers!

There is no MMMYUM app at this point but there are other options.

Add MMMYUM to your homescreen

You can still add MMMYUM to your homescreen and open it like you would any other app. Just follow the instructions below.

iOS (Safari only)

  1. Press the share button (in the middle at the bottom)
  2. Scroll right and press "Add to Home Screen"

Press the three dots in the top-right corner and press "Add to Home screen".

Why no app?

MMMYUM is designed to be used with an internet connection. Apps have the benefit of not needing a web connection in order to use them but this wouldn't provide any benefits as you need to be able to lookup reviews and venues from the server and upload your Yums to the server.

The web is what we do. We are a branding and web development agency by day so making websites is what we do. All of our websites are designed to work as well on mobile devices as they do on desktops.

About mmmyum

Fri 14 Oct 2016

What's good?

Welcome to our exciting new adventure - mmmyum.

Mmmyum is a new platform to help encourage everyone to explore their local independent food & drink outlets and never eat or drink something average again. You can find out which independent food & drink spots are near you and how other mmmyum users have rated them. Once you've had a good yum experience yourself you can add a review to let other people know how good your visit was.

It's super simple, you just need to sign up if you want to start leaving reviews!

Big love from the Yum Team
